Weekending: beach and gardening

Saturday:

After checking the forecast, I decided to take the kids to the beach after Kiah’s soccer game. She scored two goals!

My good friend Dee and her crew met up with us. The beach we originally planned to meet at had no place for parking, so she suggested First Landing State Park.

This is my new favorite beach! We’re going to look into camping out there this Summer.

*warning* from this point on – this post is picture heavy with way too much cute.

Have I mentioned how much I love the beach? Oh, I have…

Later that evening we ordered fried chicken from a local mom/pop shop around the corner.

The kids did what kids do. I searched online for a girls top to knit for Ava, and played around on Twitter and Facebook.

Sunday:

Charles ended up having the day off…that’s always a welcome surprise.

The kids spent some time picking berries that fell from the neighbors tree, then wanted to grab what they call cherries from the tree in our front yard.

Ava says this is what real cherries look like.

There have been so many butterflies lately. The kids are so cute getting as close as they can to observe them.

I gathered supplies for starting our tomatoes, then realized the peppers should be started indoors as well. Oh, I also repotted the Canna Lilies that I picked up from a friend a few days ago.
I wasn’t sure if I should clip the brown parts off, or leave them be, so I left them alone for now.

It felt so good to be outside doing garden type stuff, listening to the kids conversations about the pies they’re making, and watching them run around the yard.

  1. Fantastic pictures! Thank you for sharing this with the spring carnival. Your garden is looking great and I love that you have been at the beach throughout spring! πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks for stopping by Wild Whispers! It looks like a lovely weekend indeed! I love the beach, but we are too far from one to make a trip easily. Hugs!

    • Sounds good to me. You just don’t know how shocked I’ll be if the garden turns out well. Added a few more beach pictures….for some reason they didn’t upload with the original post.
