>Painted Shells

> Well, we enjoyed one nice day yesterday. It was gorgeous! The sun, the warmth, the breeze, the birds chirping. I was a happy mama. We didn’t make it to our playdate because Ava and Samuel are sick yet again. So we are homebound this week. We also need to save on gas, have you seen those prices? Ouch.

I woke around 5am to the sound of rain. Charles said it sounded like we were in a tropical paradise. I think that’s the only time I like the rain, when I’m sleeping. I won’t go on and on about how much I despise this weather, you all already know.

You also know how much we love to paint around here. I picked up some more paint and new brushes while I was out running errands by myself yesterday. Yes I enjoyed myself, thank you.

With the rain here again I broke out the new paint and paint brushes. Instead of using paper the girls painted shells from the beach. Oh how we can’t wait to enjoy the beach this summer. Actually yesterday would’ve been a perfect day for the beach.

The girls love it when I give them things to paint. I think we may look for rocks later this week. They asked me today but we didn’t have any, and we didn’t feel like going out in the rain to find some.

Our craft table is full of crafts, projects in waiting, and playdoh. Some from the homeschool co-op and others that we’ve done here at home.
Do you know the story of this table? It came from my friend when we were in Minnesota. The girls have used it for going on three years. I love it. I wonder how many projects this cute little table saw before it came to us. I know it will see many more over the years.

They were quite creative painting their shells. They started out doing one solid color and then realized they could create rainbows and use different colors on the shells if they wanted….and they did.

I also accidentally got paint in Ava’s hair while trying to open the capsules. It’s a good thing it’s washable paint.

Aren’t they pretty? My favorite one has the smidge of pink on top with green on both sides.
What have you painted with your little ones lately?

  1. >We have been doing lots of painting, too. We painted a huge cardboard box, then used some paint to step in and do footprints. And we painted some slabs of concrete that are lining our raised garden bed. And when they are all done painting, my two love to start painting themselves! I had to go online and buy paint from discountschoolsupply.com, because they go through paint so quickly.
