Sometimes I adapt quickly – other times I fight it until I can’t fight anymore.
We change jobs, careers, where we live, how we parent, hobbies, cars, hairstyles, wardrobe, how we decorate our home, friends, the way we think, act, and talk, spiritually, physically, emotionally.
We go through so many different types of change from the moment we’re conceived. Changing from tiny cells into a baby with organs, and body parts.
Even after we have no breath left in our bodies, change will continue to take place without us being physically present.
The older I get the faster some things in my life change. My kids can change in the blink of an eye. I take pictures, create blog posts, put memories away in my mental memory box. I remember when Nakiah said yook instead of look at the age of three. I remember when I used to pace the floors at night with Ava in a wrap while she held onto her bebra (zebra) when she was 16months old. I remember when Samuel started crawling…now he’s a walking, talking person.
I wouldn’t have the amazing kids I do right now if they didn’t grow and change.
And sometimes for things to change major hardwork is required. That can be tough to deal with. For instance, I want to lose weight….I’m going to have to change the way I eat and exercise. It’s a necessary change that must take place for me to accomplish losing weight. I won’t always like it or enjoy it, but when it’s all said and done – I will have discovered a few things about myself I didnt know before. I’ll also have the satisfaction of completing a task, buying new clothes and fitting into old ones. That always feels good!
Change is inevitable. We won’t get to who and what we want to be, or where we want to go without change.
What are you thankful for today?
